Hi All
We met on August 21st and sampled some very good food and some okay food. That's what happens when you are a cookbook recipe critiquer. Here's what we did:
Ruby used Around My French Table cookbook.
1. Rice Pudding and Caramel Apple- easy to follow, not expensive and taste was WOW. I totally agree with the WOW. Ruby would not change a thing in the recipe.
2. Marie-Helene's Apple Cake- easy to follow, not expensive and taste was VERY GOOD. Again, I totally agree.
Ruby loves the easy simple but tasty recipes. She would use this cookbook again. I want it next.
Barbara used The New Midwestern Table cookbook.
1. Smoky Sauerkraut Soup- easy to follow, not expensive, and taste was GOOD. This recipe takes a while to make. I would use regular sausage, leave out the bacon and add white beans.
2. Spring Chicken Pot Pie- easy to follow, expensive to make, and taste was VERY GOOD. This recipe takes a while to make. I would use individual pot pie pans because this makes a lot of food.
3. Nebraskan Runzas- easy to follow, not expensive and taste was NOTHING SPECIAL. I would not even bother to tweek this recipe.
The Back In The Day Cookbook
1. Cinnamon Sour Cream Coffee Cake- easy to follow, not expensive and taste was VERY GOOD. I really would not consider this a coffee cake for breakfast more like a brunch coffee cake or leave out the streusel and use an icing to make it a dessert cake.
