January 19,2017

Above pictures are what we did for this month's meeting.

On the left Ruby used the Beetlebung Farm cookbook and she did Shaved Mint Feta Salad (far left) on page 120.  The recipe was easy to follow, not expensive to make and Very Good tasting.

She also did Kale Gnocci with Fennel/Kale Ragu (blue and white bowl in the middle) on page 141.  The recipe was not easy to follow ( it had a lot of steps) it was not expensive to make and taste was Very Good.

Also done by Ruby was Beet Cake with Fennel Icing (white cake)on page 67.  Again not easy to follow (to many steps) not expensive to make and taste was Nothing Special.

I used Martha Stewart Baking Handbook again this month.  I love this book.  I did Ricotta Cheesecake (top right) on page 176.  It was easy to follow and not expensive to make, taste was Good.  I think it needed something on top because the cheese was kind of bland.

I also did Blueberry Muffins on page 37- easy to follow, not expensive and taste was Good

On the right of this page Caitlin used the Better Homes Baking cookbook and she made Chocolate Chip Cookies.  The recipe was easy to follow, not expensive to make and taste was Very Good. They were not a hard cookie nor were they a soft cookie, they were just right.

December  15, 2016 I used Martha Stewart Baking cookbook.  I really like this book and have ordered it for my own collection of cookbooks.

I made Chocolate Eclairs and Lemon Ginger Scones.

The Chocolate Eclairs were really a WOW especially the pastry cream filling.  The dough was easy to do, however, since I do not have a good pastry bag I really had a hard time piping the dough and then the cream filling.  The filling squirted all over me and my counter but I HAD A GOOD TIME SCOOPING IT UP AND TASTING IT.

The lemon Ginger Scones were not as great a success.  They tasted okay but were NOTHING SPECIAL.
